CHELCHELE
CHELCHELE Isolated Origin — Ethiopia Yirgacheffe needs no introduction — but Gedeb, tucked deep in its southern reaches, is where some of Ethiopia's most electric naturals come from. CHELCHELE is named for the washing station at its center, where smallholder farmers from the surrounding Banko Chelchele community bring their carefully harvested cherries. At 2,100 meters above sea level, the altitude here is exceptional, and it shows in every sip. This is a natural process coffee that leans fully into what Ethiopia does best. Blueberry comes first — bold, jammy, unmistakable — before opening into a wild, almost effervescent fruit punch quality. Gooseberry closes it out with a tart, lingering brightness that keeps you coming back. Espresso-focused and medium roasted, CHELCHELE pulls beautifully as a straight shot — rich, fruit-forward, and alive with complexity. Expect: Blueberry · Fruit Punch · Gooseberry Roast: Medium Process: Natural Region: Banko Chelchele, Gedeb, Yirgacheffe, Ethiopia Producer: Smallholder Farmers — Chelchele Station Altitude: 2,100 MASL Availability: Limited — this lot will not be restocked.

COFFEE FAQ

Specialty coffee is scored 80 points or higher on a 100-point scale by certified graders. In practice, it means coffee that’s carefully cultivated, harvested at peak ripeness, and processed with precision. For BIGFACE, specialty means clarity, complexity, and the kind of character you can only taste when every detail is dialed in.

We work with trusted farmers and export partners in origin countries like Colombia, Kenya, Rwanda, and Ethiopia. Every release is tied to a specific farm, estate, or microlot, so you always know where it was grown, who produced it, and how it was processed.

Those flavors are naturally present in coffee. Coffee shares hundreds of the same aromatic compounds found in fruits, flowers, and spices. When you see tasting notes like grapefruit, honey, or cacao, it’s describing what the coffee expresses naturally, nothing added, just unlocked through roast and brew.

BIGFACE coffees are marked with a Best By date, we recommend enjoying them before then for peak flavor. Store your coffee sealed in its BIGFACE bag or in an airtight container at room temperature, away from heat, light, and humidity. The coffee will remain safe to drink past the Best By date, but flavor and aromatics are at their best when enjoyed before that point.

Yes. Specialty pricing reflects the investment at origin. Hand-picking cherries, extended fermentations, and careful drying all require time and labor. Paying more means better quality in the cup and better wages for producers. It’s about excellence and fairness throughout the supply chain.
