SANTA MARIA
Huila sits in the southwest of Colombia, where the Andes split into three distinct cordilleras and the altitude swings between extremes. At 1,750 metres, the Santa Maria farm sits in that sweet spot where slow cherry development and cool nights concentrate sugars without sacrificing the clarity that defines great Colombian filter coffee. The washed process strips everything back, letting the terroir speak directly into the cup. Clean, precise, and quietly complex -- this is what great Colombian filter coffee looks like. The cup opens with the crisp snap of Fuji apple, bright without being sharp. A blood orange mid-palate brings citrus depth and a soft acidity that lingers, before the finish rounds out into warm toffee. It is a coffee that rewards patience -- best enjoyed slow.

    Just outstanding

I don't normally enjoy Colombian beans because the flavors can be very subtle. That's absolutely not the case here, the blood orange is sweet and bright and the fuji apple is a crazy back end but very clear. Great as a pour over, but really special as an espresso. Bigface is really consistent, has great body and mouthfeel and outstanding variety, it's been hard to shop elsewhere. Thank you all.

COFFEE FAQ

Specialty coffee is scored 80 points or higher on a 100-point scale by certified graders. In practice, it means coffee that’s carefully cultivated, harvested at peak ripeness, and processed with precision. For BIGFACE, specialty means clarity, complexity, and the kind of character you can only taste when every detail is dialed in.

We work with trusted farmers and export partners in origin countries like Colombia, Kenya, Rwanda, and Ethiopia. Every release is tied to a specific farm, estate, or microlot, so you always know where it was grown, who produced it, and how it was processed.

Those flavors are naturally present in coffee. Coffee shares hundreds of the same aromatic compounds found in fruits, flowers, and spices. When you see tasting notes like grapefruit, honey, or cacao, it’s describing what the coffee expresses naturally, nothing added, just unlocked through roast and brew.

BIGFACE coffees are marked with a Best By date, we recommend enjoying them before then for peak flavor. Store your coffee sealed in its BIGFACE bag or in an airtight container at room temperature, away from heat, light, and humidity. The coffee will remain safe to drink past the Best By date, but flavor and aromatics are at their best when enjoyed before that point.

Yes. Specialty pricing reflects the investment at origin. Hand-picking cherries, extended fermentations, and careful drying all require time and labor. Paying more means better quality in the cup and better wages for producers. It’s about excellence and fairness throughout the supply chain.
